I draw inspiration from dreamy neo-classical Parisian architecture, ethereal haute couture runway gowns and the romantic tried and true love story of the ages. So let's be different babe and create something exactly like nothing else.

This Franklin Park Conservatory Engagement Session is definitely one for the books- it’s half styled/half real. Ryan and Lindsay were already engaged but Jasmine of Vivid Vibes Event Planning was looking to expand her portfolio with orchestrating a “surprise” proposal for her website! After their downtown Columbus styled rooftop proposal we made our way over to Franklin Park Conservatory where I photographed their dreamy engagement session. When I edit any session there are always a few images that stand out, photographers you know the ones- the ones that give you goosebumps, the ones that literally transcend space, time and reality, the ones that will be displayed proudly on the mantel or what I like to call the “wall of fame.” There are a lot of those in this editorial and I can’t help but think about a young woman in the distant future about 60 years from now give or take, sitting on her comfy couch, drinking her morning coffee, in the brand new home she just bought with her hubby, looking up at her wall-of-fame with gratitude and appreciation. She will see two distinct photographs on her wall, one of her grandparents in her current space time reality and the other from 60 years prior when they were young and vibrant. When they were dreaming up dreams and living out destinies and she’ll be able to trace their life all the way up to the present starting with one of these photographs. She will sit cozied up in warm morning light filled with a heart of gratitude that her grandparents cared enough to have these images taken because they’re important, because really these images are for her to find one day when she’s 1o in the attic of her grandparents home. She’ll dust off the album, bring it downstairs, sit with her grandmother and pour over these images in adoration of her grandparents. This is why I do it, this is why creating a tangible legacy of something that can be passed down is so important me. These images are a glimpse into the past that has faded into memory but is ever present as long the images exist. I photograph for her, the young woman who isn’t even here yet, because I am her. I am forever thankful for my grandparents and the legacy they left me… In conclusion, photographers, couples clients, print your images. I can’t stress this enough. We live in a fast paced world where everything is digitalized and I think the tangible portrait is one of the strongest ways to connect the future with the past. We want to know what it was like “in the good old days.” God forbid there is ever an electric magnetic pulse that completely wipes all digital data but if there ever was you’ll still have your treasured photographs to pass down. You say “well it’s just a picture” and I say “wrong, it’s a moment immortalize that you will never ever get back.” I’m excited to share their love with you this morning.
